The mission of the Board is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public by regulating the practice of massage therapy. The Board’s vision is to ensure that all citizens feel confident and safe in their choice of a massage therapist. The Board issues licenses to persons qualified to practice massage therapy in Arizona. The Board currently licenses approximately 10,000 massage therapists. The Board also provides oversight over licensees and accepts and investigates complaints made against licensees. The Board receives approximately 40 complaints a year.
There are five Board members, three who are licensed massage therapists and two who represent the public. Board staff consists of an Executive Director, investigator, licensing administrator, and two administrative assistants.
